Today, Susan at Practicing Thrift shares one of her favorite home decor pieces with us:
Buying salvage and flea market finds is a simple and frugal way to decorate your home. Frugal home decor can be creative, beautiful and personal. As an added benefit, you have the opportunity to recycle items that might otherwise be discarded.
This salvaged metal star was purchased at a scrap metal shop and repurposed into a bright wall hanging. It was originally unfinished but we cleaned it with a wire brush, then painted and sealed it with rust-proofing.
My husband and I love this star, which hangs over the loveseat in our family room, because it adds a clean structural look to the main living space in our home.
When decorating our home, my focus is on using a few high-impact items that really appeal to us rather than covering the walls and shelves with smaller pieces.
Do you have a piece in your home that embodies simplicity and beauty? If you’d like to share it with us in an upcoming showcase, email me at simplenestblog@gmail.com!
