Mother's Day Wind Chime

Mother's Day Windchime

One of my absolute favorite things in our entire house is this wind chime that my husband bought me last Mother’s Day. In fact, I had a dream a couple of weeks ago that we were moving, and I spent a good portion of my dream searching for my wind chime so that we could take it with us.

It’s special not only because Sean remembered that I wanted one and searched for one he thought I’d like, but also because it’s such a simple touch of beauty and tranquility in the midst of the mundane.

It just so happens that the corner of the porch where it’s hung is right outside the family room window where I sit to work. It is often very breezy here, and there are days it seems like it plays music all day long. I’ll admit that even on hot days when I should keep the windows closed, I’ll open that window a crack to listen to it chime. For me, it’s a simple reminder of all of the many blessings in our life, and there hasn’t been a day in the past year that it hasn’t made me pause and be thankful!

What is something in your home that creates a feeling of beauty, serenity or thankfulness in the midst of your day?
